You play as a heroic mage battling the Demon Lord across six escalating rituals. The mage fires magic bolts automatically every 245 milliseconds, so your main focus is dragging to dodge dense projectile waves, giant fireballs, and demonic slashes. After depleting the boss's health, which starts at 1200 and grows each round, you select powerful hex upgrades to enhance your build. The difficulty ramps up with faster attacks and new mechanics like the dark storm. The run ends if your 100 health points hit zero.
Tips
- Save your barrier for the giant fireballs or demonic slashes, as it takes 5.3 seconds to cool down before you can use it again.
- Stacking the Fire Element upgrade up to three times increases the burn damage and size of your bolts, melting the boss's health faster.
- You automatically recover 50 percent of your maximum health between rituals, so don't waste an upgrade pick on the Mending Hex if you are nearly full.
Questions
How do the Thorns work?
The Thorns upgrade allows your barrier to absorb incoming hits, reflect pain back to the Demon Lord, and heal your mage. Stacking it up to three times increases the damage reflected and the health restored.
What happens in the later rituals?
Starting in ritual three, the boss unlocks giant fireballs. By the sixth and final ritual, the boss gains a dark storm attack that deals damage over time if you stand inside the darkened half of the screen.
How does the Chain Lightning upgrade help?
Chain Lightning causes your hits to fork into shock arcs that strike the boss. You can stack this upgrade up to three times to increase both the arc damage and the size of the lightning strikes.
